What are the new test standards for the EN71 toys category?


On December 9, 2020, the European Flammability Standard EN 71-2:2020 release was updated. This standard replaces the previous EN 71-2:2011 + A1:2014. EN 71-2 Handling toy flammability requirements, It works for all toys and sets. In addition, the specific requirements for the following toys:

3) A sample preparation method has been changed and now allows for the testing of smaller, more tolerant fragments, and clarifies that the seams and fillers should be included in the test. 

4) Guidelines on how to categorize toys have been transferred from TR 15371-1. The guide clarifies what requirements in EN 71-2 related to sections 4.1 to 4.2.5 apply to certain toys.
