What is ISO5657 combustibility test?
Combustibility is defined as the ability of a material to be ignited by a radiant heat source, one of the first combustion characteristics
to be displayed by a material, and should be the focus of any fire hazard assessment.
The ISO5657 test standard specifies a set of scientific and rigorous combustion test methods, mainly used to measure the combustion
characteristics of building materials or basically flat materials installed horizontally.
Mainly used for:
Building materials: Various wall, ceiling and floor materials
Synthetic materials: various composite flat panel materials
Other flat materials: any basic flat materials and samples
Working principle of ISO 5657 building materials ignitability flammability tester
The ISO 5657 building materials ignitability flammability tester consists of a support frame that horizontally clamps the test sample
between pressure plates, exposing a defined area of the sample's upper surface to radiation.
The radiation of the tester is provided by a heat dissipation cone located above and supported by the sample support frame,
and the test flame is applied through the heat dissipation cone to the position above the center of the sample surface
using an automatic ignition flame application mechanism.
During testing, the sample is positioned accurately on the sample support frame pressure plate using the sample insertion
and positioning tray, and the sample surface is shielded using the shield plate when the sample is inserted into the instrument.
